PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION THAT FOLLOWS!
Each summer, studios and performance groups have the opportunity to purchase a pre-show performance time before our outdoor main stage productions. Pre-show performances are a great way to market dance studios and performance groups in a live entertainment format. What better way to get folks excited about what they can learn than to show them?! If you are a dance studio or performance group and are interested in performing before one of our productions, below is a lot of information to help you decide if performing on the TIP stage is a good investment for you.
Please review ALL of the following information before reserving and paying for a pre-show performance date.
Each pre-show performance booking is $200.
Payment must be made online with a credit card at the time of the reservation.
We cannot hold a date without your online payment.
Check in time is 7:20pm at the backstage gate. A Theatre in the Park staff member will escort you backstage. Pre-show performance begins at 7:40pm and ends at 8:00pm. All dancers, studio personnel and chaperones must exit the backstage area to the parking lot immediately after the conclusion of their performance.
A certificate of insurance for your studio must be submitted to the TIP office at least ten (10) business days prior to your performance. Your studio will NOT be allowed to perform without first submitting this form. Please ask your insurance agent to list the Johnson County Park and Recreation District as an additional insured and list the "certificate holder" as follows:
Johnson County Park and Recreation District
Attn: Risk Manager
7900 Renner Road
Shawnee Mission KS 66219
Insurance certificates can be...
1. Emailed to email@example.com, OR
2. Mailed to Theatre in the Park, 8788 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66212.
A performance waiver will be emailed to you along with your confirmation and can also be found HERE. Each participant in the pre-show performance must complete a performance waiver. No performer will be allowed to take the stage without a signed waiver. Waiver forms will be collected by the Theatre staff the night of your performance.
While at the Theatre, your group must be properly chaperoned. We recommend no more than 40 performers and a maximum of five studio representatives to act as chaperones.
No dressing rooms or other changing areas will be available. Please plan accordingly.
Performers and chaperones MUST wear closed toed shoes. Anyone not in closed toed shoes will not be allowed backstage.
Admission passes to the TIP performance are not included with the Pre-Show Performance reservation, but can easily be purchased online. An admission pass is required to enter the Theatre bowl whether attending the pre-show performance, Theatre production or both.
ONE hand-held microphone will be available for your use on stage. No other lighting or sound equipment will be provided.
By reserving and paying for a pre-show reservation, you are agreeing to follow the above instructions and guidelines pertaining to pre-show performances.
Please review the Pre-Show Performance Information Sheet for answers to many frequently asked questions.
Please note: The Theatre in the Park Administration reserves the right to accept or decline any performance group reservation based on the appropriateness of the material to be presented.
Please select the date for which you would like to reserve and pay for a pre-show performance.
(You will be able to add additional dates for multiple performances before you check out.)
