SYNOPSIS
Nunsense is a delightfully goofy, heart-filled musical comedy about five surviving nuns from the Little Sisters of Hoboken. After a culinary catastrophe involving Sister Julia, Child of God, and one very bad batch of vichyssoise (yes… soup), the sisters find themselves needing cash fast to bury their dearly departed. Their solution? Put on a show, of course!
Mother Superior Mary Regina is in charge and full of big ideas, none of which the other nuns are quite prepared for. Her no-nonsense sidekick Sister Mary Hubert tries to keep things organized, while the wise-cracking Sister Robert Anne dreams of Broadway, Sister Mary Leo wants to twirl through it all en pointe, and Sister Amnesia… well, she’s still trying to remember her own name. Together, they rehearse, bicker, pray, and somehow manage to cobble together a musical revue.
Act One is all chaos and charm as they attempt to rehearse with limited talent, less time, and a lot of faith. Between toe-tapping tunes like “Nunsense Is Habit-Forming” and Robert Anne’s show-off number “So You Want to Be a Nun,” the laughs come as easily as the missed cues.
By Act Two, it’s showtime—and what a show it is. From Sister Amnesia’s disastrous baking demo to heartfelt reflections on purpose and sisterhood, it’s a mix of sweet sincerity and holy mayhem. Against all odds, the fundraiser is a hit. The sisters raise the money they need, discover a little about themselves, and end with a joyful reprise that’ll leave you smiling (and maybe humming).
Nunsense is a love letter to laughter, faith, and friendship… proof that when the going gets tough, a few good habits can still bring down the house.
